By Msnbc.com staff and wire
Country singer Garth Brooks is in court in Oklahoma this week.
In 2005, Brooks?donated $500,000?to Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in his hometown of Yukon, Okla. Now the star says the hospital misled him and he wants the money back, while lawyers for the hospital say the donation had no strings attached.
Brooks says hospital officials showed him mock-ups of buildings bearing?the name of his mother Colleen?and told him his donation was earmarked for such a project, the Associated Press reports. Colleen Brooks died of cancer in 1999.
In 2008, the hospital told Brooks his mother's name would not be used, and refused to give him the donation back when he asked for it, the Tulsa World reports.
?The World quotes Brooks as saying he was "stunned and hurt" by the hospital's actions.
Brooks' wife, singer Trisha Yearwood, is accompanying her husband to court.
