Dr. Julia Keleher of the Department of Education will be teaching a 3 credit hour elective this fall. ?The name of the elective is TBD, but following is a course description:
This course focuses the leadership and management practices that facilitate successful projectimplementation. The course examines project management in the public, private and non-profitsectors and addresses 1) communication skills 2) change management strategies, and 4) performance management. The course readings will focus on best practices inthese areas. Case studies are used to provide a context analyzing the role these leadership andmanagement practices play in successful project implementation.
Course Objectives
1. Identify how management and leadership strategies can be applied to common project?challenges
2. Understand the role of communication in project success
3. Explore change management concepts and apply them to a project context
4. Explore performance management as an organizational tool that can support effective?project implementation
5. Develop an action plan for developing enhanced communication, change management?and performance measurement skills
Assignments will include a communication management plan template, a change management analysis template, a business report, a case study, and a development plan template. ?There are no exams.
